SYVT offers Dial-A-Ride service to seniors aged 60 and older as well as ADA-certified patrons of any age. Dial-A-Ride is a shared-ride, reservation-based service. Our Dial-A-Ride service operates within ¾ of a mile of our fixed-route service. All Dial-A-Ride vehicles are wheelchair accessible and are operated by trained drivers. Santa Ynez Valley visitors who are ADA-certified by another transit agency may use SYVT’s Dial-A-Ride service for up to 30 days without proof of residency or securing SYVT certification.
Sunday Dial-A-Ride service is open to the general public. Proof of age or eligibility is not required for Sunday Dial-A-Ride service.
Service animals are allowed with no additional charge. Service animals are defined by the ADA as “any guide dog, signal dog, or other animal individually trained to work or perform tasks for an individual with a disability, including, but not limited to guiding individuals with impaired vision, alerting individuals with impaired hearing to intruders or sounds, providing minimal protection or rescue work, pulling a wheelchair, or fetching dropped items.”
Likewise, registered attendants travel for free when accompanying an ADA-registered customer. The name and contact information for the attendant must be provided during the ADA-certification process.
