Process

In an effort to do our best to accommodate the needs of each Dial-A-Ride customer, we have some procedures that we ask you to follow: 
  • Call 805-688-5452 to reserve a pick-up time at least 24 hours in advance of when you would like to travel.  Please keep in mind that this is a shared-ride service, so you need to take into consideration that our drivers may have to make other stops along the route before getting to your destination. Our trip planners will help you determine the best pick-up time to accommodate your travel needs.
  • When scheduling a trip, be ready to provide the following information:
    • Rider’s first and last name
    • Will an attendant, companion, or service animal also be riding?
    • Rider’s exact address, including number, building or business name
    • Exact pick-up address (if location is different from rider’s address)
    • Exact address of rider’s destination, including suite number, building, or business name
    • Rider’s requested pick-up time and appointment time (if applicable)
    • Is the rider traveling with a mobility aid/device (e.g., wheelchair, scooter, walker, etc.)?
  • Reservations can be made during our Hours of Operations posted on this page. In the event you call outside of our Hours of Operation your call will be forwarded to a voicemail messaging system which will be reviewed the next business day.
  • Please do not make a reservation for more than seven days in advance. 
  • If you make the same trip each week (such as a weekly doctor’s appointment), please let our reservations specialist know at the time of your reservation phone call so it can be scheduled as a weekly reservation.
  • Rides for Monday must be scheduled no later than the prior Saturday.
  • Same-day trip requests will be accepted on an as-received basis, space permitting. 
  • When your trip is confirmed by our reservations specialist, you will be provided a twenty-minute pick-up window within which the SYVT Dial-A-Ride vehicle may arrive. Our SYVT vehicle will wait up to three minutes from the time of arrival before departing for the next customer pick-up. Should the vehicle arrive early, the driver will wait until the start of the allotted pick-up window before beginning the three-minute wait period.
  • Please be sure to provide your most up-to-date contact information when scheduling your trip. Our Customer Service Representative may need to notify you by phone if an unforeseeable delay impacts your travel reservation. 
  • Drivers may assist customers to/from their door to the vehicle but drivers are not allowed to lift or carry a customer’s property.
  • Please call 805-688-5452 to cancel your pick-up request. Trip cancellations should be made no less than two hours prior to the scheduled pick-up time. 
  • Consistently failing to appear for a scheduled trip, not being ready at the agreed upon pick-up time, or canceling a trip without proper 2-hour advanced notice may result in a fine or suspension of Dial-A-Ride service privileges.
