Solvang (Danish for 'sunny field') is a beautiful little city nestled in the Santa Ynez Valley of California. Founded in 1911 by a small group of Danish teachers, Solvang now is a diverse, modern city, with fine restaurants, lovely shops and outstanding activities to enchant young and old alike.
There are Danish festivals, quiet tree lined streets, horse drawn wagons, Hans Christian Andersen Park, windmills, Danish pastries and dozens of quaint shops to explore. Solvang was incorporated as a city on May 1, 1985 and now has a population of approximately 5,446

Business Certificate Renewals
The 2010 Business Certificate Renewal Forms and $30 annual fee were due January 2, 2010. Renewals paid before March 1st will result in a $50 penalty plus $30 fee. After March 1, 2010 a $100 penalty plus $30 fee applies and after April 1, 2010, a $250 penalty plus the $30 fee applies. We still have several businesses who have not paid for their 2010 certificate. Please make sure you are not one of them. After March 1st, non-payment becomes a misdemeanor. MARCH IS RED CROSS MONTH
In honor of this designation, the Red Cross will be bringing an awareness to the
local community about the importance of preparing for emergencies. Please look
for displays in various local stores for ideas and things you can do now
to plan ahead. See how easy it is to make your own personal Emergency Preparedness Kits and
obtain other valuable information.
