Residential Tenant and Landlord Guide to BMPs (English)-Rev1_Page_2

Did you know that residential tenants and landlord’s habits and actions at home can contribute to water pollution?

The Residential Tenant and Landlord Guide to Best Management Practices (BMPs) offers simple, actionable tips for Landlords to:

  • Incorporate language within Move-In lease agreements to prohibit illegal discharges to storm drains
  • Provide Tenant Notifications for managing recyclable materials and waste; and Tenant Advisories to help prevent stormwater pollution
  • Conduct interior and exterior inspections for all Move-outs to identify trash and chemicals left behind and for evidence of illegal discharges
  • Minimizing generation of pollutants from building maintenance, landscaping, swimming pool and spa cleaning activities
  • Keep dumpsters and parking lots clean
  • Properly manage waste (including pet waste)

Visit your city’s Stormwater Management (Buellton or Solvang)  to learn more about BMPs for Residential Tenants and Landlords or to download a copy of this BMP in English or Spanish.
